aAfter reaching a settlement in their latest round of litigation, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have managed to avoid another court appearance.
Depp first sued Heard for defamation in March 2019, after he published an opinion piece in the Washington Post Heard referred to herself as a “public figure who symbolizes domestic violence”. The couple divorced in 2017 after two years of marriage.
A Virginia jury decided earlier this year that Depp and Heard had demeaned each other after a lengthy trial. Heard through the editorial post, Ed and Depp were told by a statement from his lawyer, accusing Heard of a “hoax.”
Heard was ordered to pay Depp $5 million in punitive damages and $10 million in compensatory damages, with the latter reduced to $350,000 to stay within the legal cap.
Heard’s lawyer cited “mistakes” by the court in a notice of appeal filed the following month by Heard. the “AquamanIt appears the actress has agreed to withdraw her appeal.

Heard made it very clear in an Instagram post, revealing the option to have “no strings attached or gags regarding my vote going forward” and criticizing how the US legal system used her testimony as “entertainment and social media fodder.”
